A child being a child on a plane has once again sparked outrage on the internet, as a viral video depicting a child who looks to be between the ages of five and seven, wearing a bright light-up bunny hat on a flight and grinning.

Around him though, the adults were displeased, complaining that they couldn't sleep - as the hat flashed on and off throughout the flight. The clip has now amassed 280k views, with thousands of funnier comments than the video.

As other fliers took pictures of their cabinmate, the child smiled for the camera - which offended the adults, who thought the child was being 'annoying' on purpose. In the picture, the boy wears a bright rainbow-coloured light-up bunny hat. Next to him is a grown man rolling his eyes.

One user replied: "Where’s a Karen when you need one?" Someone else wanting to be funny wrote: "If the parent refuses to take that off the child then the child is going to learn the truth about Santa, the Easter bunny and the tooth fairy all in under 6 minutes."

Many echoed concerns about those with health issues being forced to stare at that hat for an extended period of time. "Absolutely not. While the parents might think this is cute, what about people with medical issues?" wrote someone on Instagram. Someone else agreed, "May cause an epileptic to have seizures, so it’s not cute. Educate yourself and your kids. The world doesn’t revolve around you."

A flight attendant chimed in with her two cents as well: “As a flight attendant, I’d say put that it away. There are people trying to rest, read, watch a movie, etc. Also, there are people with disabilities, and this can be incredibly annoying and irritating for them. Leave stuff like this for home or amusement parks. Not in a tiny tin can at 30,000 ft in the air. Some folks have sensitive eyes. Please consider others around you.”

It's unclear if anyone asked the child to take off the hat or if a flight attendant on that flight intervened.

One person brought up an idea that was seconded by many. "I vote for adult-only flight. I would pay extra for adult-only flights." It's a slightly polarizing idea but one that could actually make bank for airlines. PhotoAid surveyed 1,000 people and found that eight out of 10 individuals said they'd prefer to pay for a flight that excludes families and children.

At least 60 per cent of those surveyed though said they'd prefer to be sitting next to a misbehaving child than an annoying adult - so in some cases, it pays to have some self-awareness.
